State schools in the USA are the real American school, exactly as you see them in the movies, from lessons to sporting events, they work like a close community where students are heavily involved, and proud of their school.
Education is in the hands of the State and their local community, they decide the contents and teaching methods, in more than 14,000 school districts.
In Welfare, we have selected schools with high academic standards and good sports facilities, as well as a local team of coordinators with the best qualities and sound work ethics when selecting host families. In this option, it is your choice of area and school.
You also have an economic option, where the host family is volunteering and the choice of area and school is random. You can, if you allow enough time, choose one factor, either state, region, town, school on the top 10% or to have an individual room.
The United States have one of the most advanced education systems in the world. The academic standards are often thought to be low, but this is due to the system’s flexibility, which allows lessons to be adapted to the students’ different levels. This steers each student’s learning path towards their academic and professional future, based on their effort and capabilities.
Thereby, some students finish school with excellent outcomes and have access to the best universities, while others will opt for professional training. In fact, this is the country with more high education institutions in the world, many highly regarded.
Education is mandatory up to 16 years of age, while some states take it to 18.
SECONDARY EDUCATION
First, up to 13-14, students attend Middle School or Junior High School, to then go to High School, up to 17-18 years of age, until graduation, when they get the certification that will give them access to higher education, be it at college or university.

If you are living with a family, during Christmas you will enjoy the special way they celebrate. Includes school fees, accommodation, meals, school activities, health insurance in the USA, airport transfers upon arrival and departure, local coordinator in the USA and Welfare services.
A whole school year in the USA can be validated seamlessly, as long as the student achieves the minimum required qualifications , as laid out by the Department of Education of the country of origin. Our coordinator will make sure the student chooses the relevant subjects to comply with the set requirements, and will take care of the procedures to obtain the certification.
